SensoriMotor Retraining Technique - One Day in-Person
Description
Please note: Due to the constant COVID-19 changes, the in-person course may be required to be completed virtually/online with a teaching assistant in attendance at the location. By registering, you acknowledge and accept this possibility. Refunds will not be provided in this case.
SensoriMotor Retraining Technique is a combination of assessment, treatment, and corrective exercise using an approach informed by the 5 kinetic chains, role of ligaments as sensory organs, and pairing sensory change with improved motor outputs.
This 14 hour course will include discussion of important anatomical structures that make up kinetic chains and how to assess these structures in a simple, sequential way to identify a hierarchy for approaching corrections. We will explore the role of ligaments, and how they contribute to optimal or not so optimal movement patterns and what this means to our practice as manual therapists or fitness professionals. We will access ligaments using tools or touch to alter sensory input and cause reflexive effects in other tissues, followed by integration of movement patterns to improve function. Attendees will leave with an assessment tool, a new twist on their treatment approach, and movement drills to compliment treatment, provide as home care, or to use to improve performance. They will also take home lists of common patterns and findings, and suggestions for correcting these issues.
The theory component will be largely done ONLINE and the one-day course will cover the practical components. You will receive instructions about how to access the online components AFTER payment has been completed.
The course has been previously approved for CE credits in multiple locations but SensoriMotor Education no longer submits for pre-approval. If you would like to self-submit before the course, to ensure your regulatory body will credit you, please contact Laurie Di Giulio by email to be provided a course outline and CV for your submission. Remember that pre-approval is not required for you to get credit for your hours, the course just needs to meet the requirements for CE credits by your regulatory body/association.
This course is appropriate for manual therapists and fitness professionals; RMTs, PTs, Pilates/Yoga Instructors, Personal Trainers etc.
