Welcome to Your Answer to "How Do I Learn Anatomy"?
The Functional Anatomy Collective (FAC, see what I did there? Maybe something you've said when trying to learn anatomy, huh?) WAS a group of healthcare and fitness pros that meet weekly to get better at understanding anatomy and anatomical relationships.
BUT NOW, based on feedback from YOU, we are going to try out a bit of a different format.
Here's what stays the same...
You will prepare for the session by reviewing the case study, and perhaps preparing some possible assessment/treatment techniques for me to try out during the live online case study, using a real person. The case study will give you a set of findings, symptoms, and ask you to make links. For example, you might connect left low back pain to a pronated right foot that causes weight shift right, left hip hike, short/tight QL and inhibited hip abductors. Sound fun? Read on!

Here's what changes...
There will only be ONE case study every quarter. This could change, if you want more and love this new format. Between reviewing the case study, preparing for the session, and watching the live online case study, you'll accumulate a minimum of 2 hours to self-submit for CE consideration by your association or regulatory body. BUT, you might use more time to do your review and prep. Make sure to log these hours and submit for CE according to what you did.
You will be able to part of this in TWO ways. If you are where I am during the live online session, you could volunteer to be the case study (I'll have to review your case to make sure it will be a good fit) or ask that I use a fiend, family member or one of your clients. Using a client of yours can help give you a new set of eyes, a new direction that maybe you hadn't considered before so that you can try some different approaches to get your client some important changes. I'll ask for volunteers through my IG posts so make sure you are following me there @sensorimotor_education
No more Zoom! We will be using the CrowdCast platform, the same one used for the webinars. This will allow you to easily go back and watch the case studies. It keeps everything in one place, and who doesn't need to simply s**t? I know I do.
The FAC is for manual therapists (massage therapists, kins, physios, osteopaths) and fitness pros (trainers, yoga and pilates instructors) who want to improve their understanding of functional anatomy, the links between why something here might be related to something over there. The purpose of these sessions will not be to create absolutes or recipes, but rather to flex our anatomy muscles (cuz we all know that if you don't use it, you lose it), see how we each approach things a little differently and draw different connections, and allow us to expand our minds, get out of the box and be better prepared to be facilitators of change with our patients/clients/students.
