The human body is a beautiful synergy between feeling, movement, control and coordination.
Our ability to move well, to be free of pain, is linked to our ability to interpret what is happening in our internal and external environments. The SensoriMotor Education approach recognizes the link between movement and sensation and provides practitioners continuing education courses focussed on methods for treatment of pain, improvement of movement and prevention of injury. This approach is based on three key components - Assess, Correct & Move!

So who's the human behind all this?

Well, it's me... Laurie Di Giulio, Movement & Manual Therapist.
I have been a practicing massage therapist since 2000, with a heavy focus on movement as an important factor in patient success and healing. I have worked, lived and/or taught in almost every province and currently split my time between Alberta and Nova Scotia (Ontario is home). I have spent almost all of my career in education, including as program coordinator for two massage therapy programs in Toronto, instructor at many colleges in ON and NS, presenter and key note speaker at many conferences, and have developed massage therapy curriculum for an American owned, multi-location college. I moved away from teaching in a formal setting so that I could focus on my passion; helping my colleagues improve their understanding of functional anatomy and deliver the most current approaches to rehab and therapy.
A bit more about me....
- My favorite exercise to do is the bench press because mine is pretty impressive and it feeds my ego - working on that.
- I love the sound of waves crashing against the shore.
- I would love to spend a day sitting in the brains of Thomas Wells, Jose Palomar, any one of my students, Alex Grey, and Stephen Hawking.
- I would love to spend a day in the body of The Rock, Ronnie Coleman (in his prime, cuz he's hurtin' now), and Kortney Olson (working on my watermelon skills).
- When I have 30 minutes of free time, you can find me indulging in sleazy reality TV, an almond croissant & coffee, a glass of red or spending that time somewhere there is open water (saltwater preferably)
- One of the hardest times I've had was living with a disc injury, awaiting surgery. It was also an experience that taught me the most about myself. I learned both how stupid and strong I am, and that I needed to earn my strength the right way.
- The best part about waking up is that feeling of anticipation and excitement for what is to come.
- One person I am most proud of is my little brother. He didn't have it easy figuring out his path as a kid, but he has really built a wonderful life for himself now. I wish I had some of his strengths.
